Staff and Contributors

The Wargamer consists of war, historical, and gaming enthusiasts who write articles, run gaming sections, and otherwise contribute to the network.  In alphabetical order, they are:

Al Berke
Reviewer, Assistant Editor, SLJO
Virginia Beach, Virginia

Al is a US Naval Officer currently stationed at the United States Joint Forces Command. He has been playing wargames since 1968 and computer games on and off since 1983. Al is also a avid reader of military history. His tastes are pretty eclectic, but the biggest parts of his collection include the US Civil War, Napoleonic Wars, World War II (Naval), and Vietnam. Al also helps out on the forums as a moderator on the Boardgame and TalonSoft Games sections.

Mark Bourdeaux
Producer, Jane's Hanger

Like Bruce Wayne and Batman, Mark is an engineer by day, and ensues total carnage upon the evil of the world by night as a PC combat pilot. When not saving the world, contributing articles to The Wargamer or developing his Jane's Hangar website, Mark can be found donning his virtual combat wings on-line, indulging in a fine can of hops, or anxiously anticipating a good fist fight while watching the Detroit Red Wings pummel the opponent into the minor leagues. His addictions to flight sims started with the original TRS-80 "Flight Simulator" in 1984 at age 12, where his mental maturity has remained.

Sean Drummy
Associate News Editor
Boston, Massachussets

Sean is the "Deprecating Specialist" at the popular Tom Clancy Gaming Series website, Pie's Tactics. He also uses these skills to take a look at the newest games coming out for The Wargamer. He's hopelessly addicted to first person shooters and some "old school" real time strategy games like Starcraft. He gets in a little real life first person shooting in the woods of New Hampshire on his tournament level paintball team "Team Stupid".

Craig Handler
Senior Game Writer
New York, New York

An unreconstructed Texan by birth, Craig currently resides behind enemy lines near New York City working oppressively long hours as a commercial litigation attorney. Turning his passion for military history into his own personal reality television show, Craig joined the United States Marine Corps and quickly learned that playing soldier is a lot more fun than cleaning bathrooms and filling sandbags. When his boss permits him to come up for air, Craig enjoys playing PC and console games, reading, drinking grey goose, staring at his firearm collection and spending time with his lovely wife Ann.

Mark Kirby
Ellington, Connecticut

Mark is a throw back who enjoys the Panzer General series so much he hasn't gotten out of that rut. He is active in the Panzer General mod community and has developed/written multiple items for People's General. When forced to actually go out a earn a living, he works as a design engineer to develop computer based non-destructive testing imaging equipment which basically does the same thing as a sonogram.

Chris "SgtShaggy" Massey
Athens, West Virginia

Chris "SgtShaggy" Massey is the husband of one woman, the father of one little girl, loves games, books, music, movies, and um, games. He is recovering from college by working for the USPS (seems he didn't learn much in his 4 years in the Navy working for the government). "Shags" is still working on his Combat Mission skills by losing to any and everyone that he can: want to smack him around, drop him a line sometime.

Gary "Mo" Morgan
Montgomery, Alabama

Gary "Mo" Morgan is the designer of Avalon Hill's Flight Leader and Tac Air board wargames during the 1980's and won a Charles S. Roberts award for Tac Air. Mo also designed the Borodino: Doomed Victory issue game for Strategy & Tactics magazine and his companion article on Borodino won another Charles S. Roberts award. Mo served as a U.S. Air Force fighter jock spending 23 years as an electronic warfare officer in F-4 Phantoms and related staff, instructor, and test director assignments both stateside and in Germany. He retired from the Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1997 and is currently working on Booz Allen Hamilton's Air Force Client Support Team for Squadron Officer College at Air University, Maxwell AFB (Montgomery) Alabama. Gary is currently the producer of The Wargamer's Age of Sail historical section and his NelsonWeb is a featured reading resource on this famous naval genius, based on his research in Greenwich and Portsmouth, England.

Allan Parent
Houston, Texas

Allan's interest in World War II and love of aircraft was nurtured by his father, a B-24 pilot and veteran of 33 combat sorties over occupied Europe. He began wargaming in the mid-1970s with his first game, Blitzkrieg. Soon after, he purchased Squad Leader and eventually began purchasing computer wargames. Allan teaches chemistry and physics in the Houston area. He has two children, four cats, a dog, and a lovely wife who for the life of her doesn't understand why he reads so much World War II stuff since "we all know who wins".

Ciril Rozic
Split, Croatia

Currently a student of electronic engineering, Ciril has had diverse interests and experiences. Having been trained as a glider pilot he was looking forward to flying military jets, but the war in former Yugoslavia ended that dream. Instead he served as an infantryman at the turn of the century, discovering a different, yet interesting in its own way, military life. The Internet guise of the wargaming hobby has earned him friends from near and far, as well as a summer job in the U.S.

Lloyd Sabin
Assistant Editor
New York City, New York

Lloyd is currently a part time grad student in search of a degree in history, and a full time slave of the publishing industry, working as a desktop editor while editing articles and writing reviews for Wargamer.com. When not juggling these responsibilities, he is constantly trying to keep his wife from sealing up his computer room with bricks, awaiting a proud on-field moment from the NY Jets, and reading until his eyes can stand no more . He is also an avid midget submarine racer.

Vorsteher, The German Wargamer
Consultant
Germany

Dieter, "The Vorsteher," is a former coworker of Wargamer founder Mario Kroll and has been involved with the site since its founding in the mid-90's. He serves as an advisor and assists our German-speaking readers as needed. He is co-founder of the German wargaming site, Der Grenadier, and keeps The Wargamer informed of wargame developments in the industry or on the web in Germany. Dieter has worked as a beta tester on several wargames including War in Russia and Soldiers at War.

Chris Wilson

Chris Wilson is a middle aged public servant who lives in South East England near to the historic RAF airfield at Biggin Hill with his long suffering wife and two children. Chris has been wargaming since the days of Featherstone's Wargames Newsletter. He has worked as a beta tester, writer and scenario developer for various computer wargames companies but his main interest lies with map games (Kriegsspiel) and miniatures. When he's not playing with little lead soldiers he can be found mountaineering or kayaking, both of which he used to give instruction in. He has previously served as a reservist in the British Army in an infantry unit. Whilst at collage studying for his bachelors degree in history and philosophy he qualified as a pilot thanks to an RAF scholarship scheme having qualified as a glider pilot some years earlier.

In addition to assisting with The Wargamer, Chris runs his own wargames website, BritWar
