Fulda Gap '85
PC GAME REVIEW posted on 22 JUL 2002 by Jim Robinette
John Tiller brings his energy, talents, and the Modern Campaigns engine to bear on one of the greatest hypothetical questions of recent memory – what if the Warsaw Pact had attacked NATO across the inter-German border (IGB) in 1985? The result is a greatly satisfying operational level wargame, but there are still nits for the grognard to pick.

The real brilliance in game interface design lies in the fact that Sub Command is indeed three different submarine simulations rolled into one game, with essentially common control functionality.
SPEC OPS - Case Studies in Special Operations Warfare: Theory and Practice
BOOK REVIEW posted on 20 OCT 2001 by Jim Zabek
Given the increased interest in the topic of special operations, readers of The Wargamer should find William McRaven’s book, SPEC OPS, of interest. SPEC OPS reads like a textbook that might be used to teach a class on military science and the book's subtitle, Case Studies in Special Operations Warfare: Theory and Practice, sums up its content nicely. This training approach is not entirely a surprise however, when one considers that the author, at the time of the book’s publication, was an active duty member of the U.S. Navy SEALs, in command of SEAL Team Three.
Steel Beasts
PC GAME REVIEW posted on 1 OCT 2001 by Jason Logue
Steel Beasts is a modern tank simulator built around two of the most common main battle tanks in Western inventories: The M1A1 Abrams and Leopard 2A4, tanks that were common in the US and German armies shortly after the Persian Gulf War in 1991 (the game's actual time frame is 1993 to 1997). The tanks can be operated from the gunner or crew commander's position, with the player usually leading a tank platoon in battle. For those with the knack, controlling the movement and tactics of large mechanised battlegroups is also possible.

Operational Art of War - A Century of Warfare
PC GAME REVIEW posted on 25 JUN 2000 by Jeff Vitous
After various gold, platinum, and "game of the year" editions, The Operational Art of War - A Century of Warfare seems to be the all-encompassing complete package. If you have been putting off purchasing any of The Operational Art of War products waiting for this date: rejoice, it has come. If you're missing either The Operational Art of War: Volume 1 (World War II and Korea), or The Operational Art of War: Volume II (modern), resist the lure of the bargain bin editions; this is the one you want. If you are an active play-by-email player, updates to the game engine will require ownership of A Century of Warfare when playing against like-equipped opponents.
Steel Beasts
PC GAME PREVIEW posted on 1 JUN 2000 by Jason Logue
Steel Beasts is a modern-day armoured sim that models two of the most common tanks in current western defence force inventories: the M1A1 Abrams and the Leopard 2A4. For me, the ability to fight from the Leopard was a big enough drawcard to start hassling the lead developer Al Delaney for more information. I'm not sure about anyone else, but coming from a defence force that does not have the M1-series of tanks, I was getting pretty tired of being restricted to the US vehicles in release games. Off the top of my head I can think of seven M1-dominated sims released in the past few years and there are bound to be a couple more.
